A few summer sizzlers to celebrate the good weather we are having!
Roy Ayers "Everybody Loves the Sunshine"
Had the pleasure of DJing before this soul and jazz legend a few times in Cork, he is a great guy and a true inspiration to me! This is a live performance from a few years ago, i've also included someones homemade version with the original take!
Kool and the Gang "SummerMadness"
This track kills me everytime-I've also included Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's update!
Bob Marley-"Waiting In Vain"
Classic tune from later in his career!
'Summertime' never fails to put a smile on my face. Funny that...Will Smith has had the opposite effect ever since then.
ReplyDeleteHa ha true enough! It's amazing the way the story went really-both he and Jazzy Jeff made crate loads of money and went of on different paths-Will Smith pursued his ambitions with the acting and cheesier hip-hop, while Jeff withdrew to the underground, spent his money on a studio, and is still one of the best hip-hop producers and DJ's in 2007-his new album, "Return of the Magnificent" is excellent, but is not likely to be heard by many.....
ReplyDeleteI do admire Will Smiths drive but musically he hasn't really done anything worthwhile-I do think someday he will be an important figure in America and if the likes of Arnie and Reagon can do well politically, i'm sure this guy can-Jazzy Jeff though remains a major inspiration to me!
