Eric B and Rakim's "I Know Ya Got Soul" was a record that changed my life

The original, by Bobby Byrd, who died this week, is still one of my favourite records of all time.

This man more-or-less discovered James Brown and it is fitting that he passed on less than a year after the Godfather.

Thanks for the funk Bobby, and thanks for the soul
