Tune of the day (and rap lyric of the day) All Natural

Okay, enough fucking around!

This is quite simply one of the best hip-hop records of all time. It was massive for me when it came out and I still have a lot of affection for the legendary group and this legendary track. The Ramsey Lewis loop, used by many, is absolutely killer. And the lyrics are as good as it gets. I've included the samples of Ramsey Lewis and KRS One, plus the amazing "Julia" by the Beatles that Ramsey covered. Also, there's a short documentary on the amazingly under-rated Chicago crew All Natural referencing this tune. And it's on one of my favourite ever mixes right here here

"Now 50 years down the line, see I'll be chillin
like it ain't no thing, with little shorties on the swings
talkin bout, "My granddaddy had MAD flow
He got some old school, year two-thousand and ten tapes
when he was rockin the shows, and keepin it true
Takin out your granddaddy and his punk ass crew"
Your kid'll get mad, but Wilt didn't run
But what can you say, it's like father like son"

Rap lyric of the day-Lord Finesse

A true rap genius

"Brothers think I'm new, but they're dead for instance
I was into rap before they could form a sentence
I'm finally getting mine after coming up the far way
So nowadays I just lounge and parlay
I'm hip to music, whether jazz or country
I'm the type to make anything sound funky
I like to talk and shout and go and flow
Ayo, some brothers just don't know"

Rap lyric of the day! KRS One

If you don't know me by now I doubt you'll ever know me
I never won a Grammy I won't win a Tony
But I'm not the only MC keepin' it real
When I grab the mic to smash a rapper girls go "Illlll!"

Rap lyric of the day-The Beatnuts!

Classic Nuts!!!!

I've got a mix of classic golden era hip-hop featuring this and lots more tomorrow night on my Black on Red show on Corks RedFM! (7-10PM)

"It's just a phase, and you know damn well
That you'll fall off in a minute, cause that shit don't sell
Funny how you think you could surpass me, or outlast me
With that bullshit style, you're fallin fast, gee"

Rap lyric of the day! Sir-Mix-a-Lot

Rap lyric of the day!

For the Pol---iceee (what a tune)

"So they follow me wherever I go
I hear ’em on the radio
With a scanner that I bought from the sto’
Cause a brother like mix gotta know
I’m checkin’ them cops with radar
They don’t believe I’m a rap star
That my brain is up to par
An I’m ready when they follow my car
I know they wanna spray me with mace
Cause my trunk keeps pumpin’ much bass
But they best get outta my face
Cause one-times got no case, give it to me"

Rap lyric of the day! Nice & Smooth

One of my fav 12"s quite hard to pick up too i'd say what a tune

"When I was a shorty b-boy around the way
Cango, nylon, Nike suits and Pumas
I had girls from here to Montezuma
Now things are pretty much the same
But I don't have to rhyme for free and that's the price of fame"

Rap lyric of the day! A Tribe Called Quest

the whole track is dope really but...

"My rhymes styles be blendin like a Ron G tape
My man where ya goin? You can't escape
When the Tribe is in the house, that means nobody is safe
How can a reverend preach, when a rev can't define
The music of our youth from 1979
We rap about what we see, meaning reality
From people bustin caps and like Mandela bein free
Not every MC be with the negativity
We have a slew of rappers pushin positivity
Hip hop will never die yo, it's all about the rap
So Marion Barry smokin crack, let's preach about that
The trash you talk won't matter, that old bogus chatter
The more that you condemn us, it only makes us phatter
When I talk, I know I'm talkin for hip-hoppers all around
You know you love the sound, we gets down"

Rap lyric of the day and Jam Classic Part Muthafuckin 12

This sums up my thoughts on running shows sometimes

"But sometimes i feel like this shit here is a waste of time, yours and mine.
To these niggas out here trying to rhyme.
Your reason for a better should of been genuine.
I do it because it gives me a sort of peace-of-mind.
And for the love"

loads of versions (most here, cept for the Ins v Fleur Earth which i can't find on youtube), a classic remix, it's another Dilla classic!

Nobody beats the Biz for making practically any lyrics sound great!

"Yes, y'all-and, to the like beat-and
You could either dance or just have a seat and
Listen to the way-in, what I am displayin

Pockets broke as hell, another rock to sell

Selling drugs to all the losers mad buddha abuser

Baby on the way mad bills to pay
That's why you drink tangaray
So you can reminisce and wish
You wasn't living so devilish"

Rap lyric of a very good day! Ice Cube

"Freakin niggaz everyway like M.J.
I can't believe, today was a good day"

and the original classic groove

Rap Lyric of a long hard hip-hop Friday!

Rap Lyric of a long hard hip-hop Friday, dedicated to the Chief Rocka Rob Kelly who played Jam tonight; It was quite but he earned my respect by rocking the show and (arguably more importantly) being a down-to-earth gent (big ups to Mo K too and tanx to Harv)
In a music industry so full of divas and frauds and materialistic no-talent muppets its refreshing to have so many good people in it for the right reasons. Hip-hop is often a parody of itself in 2009 but big ups to the Chief Rockas such as Rob, Flip, Mikki D, and all of the others, you know who you are!
Sometimes supporting stuff like hip-hop here is like knocking your head off a wall but when you meet people who share the love it makes all the hard work worth while-This is for all the hip-hop people in Cork and Ireland and worldwide who love the music!

'I hear a beat I grab the mic, and then I start this workin
The kids around the way used to think that I was buggin
But they don't understand how I feel about the funk
I walk with the funk, I talk with the funk
I eat with the funk, I sleep with the funk... Read More
I live for the funk, I'll die for the funk
So now what do they say, when I'm walkin up the block?
Boom shaka laka there goes the Chief Rocka'

Yo this is my blog that's updated pretty much every day before 1pm Irish time

Hope you enjoy!
