"I guess i'll see you next lifetime"

1997

"On and On" already huge in Henrys, I bagged the vinyl of "Baduizm" in Manchester when we were djing over there-Think myself and Aoife Ni Canna got a copy each of the rare import and Angi, who i was spinning with at the time, was mad for a copy too as we tore apart Fat City for tunes-it was a great weekend and United ...won the match and another title soon after! The long 12 minute live version on the 12" was my first record on my Sunday soul show on Friendly that following summer, i used get up to the studio wrecked tired at midday after late night sessions and put it on, head down to the shop for
coffee and a sandwich, and be back in time for the next tune! She has continued to make great music since and her last album was my favourite of them all bar this.

I dedicate this tune to the memory
of Anna, who I shared some terrific times with that summer (although she
got kicked out of every club I DJ'd in it was always fun!)

"I Guess I'll see you next lifetime"

Tune of the day-The Pharcyde

When the 12's of this dropped in late 95, the Back Bar was never the same again!

Tune of the day! Janet Jackson/J Dilla

A bonafide classic and a massive influence on hip-hop producers for years after, it is typical that Dilla got little credit for this even though it was his only hit! Jam and Lewis got credit at the grammy's, but the true heads know who was responsible! This was a special tune for me in the Back Bar of Sir Henrys and Janet remains a pop star who always comes up with some good club jams every so often! Q Tips verse is dope too and similar to what he was doing on the Dilla produced "Sometimes" by the Brand New Heavies at the same time; another great tune! Enjoy the other Dilla mix and the original too!

Rap lyric of the day-Lost Boyz

Back bar classic

"A ghetto love is the law that we live by
Day by day I wonder why my shorty had to die
I reminisce over my ghetto princess everyday
Give it up for my shorty, shorty"

Tune of the day! Raphael Saadiq---200th post waheeey!!!!

Tune of the day! Oh yes Back Bar classic alert---Q Tip joining a modern soul legend over the Intruders "I'll always love my mama"--It's amazing that Raphael Saadiq is still not a household name in Europe everything he does is great, he's had classic groups, tons of classic albums and he is a top producer, writer, singer and musician!
